On Wednesday, 35 House Republicans voted for a Democrat bill to establish a “9/11-style” commission to investigate the the Capitol protests and riots that occurred on January 6.
That bill, H.R. 3233 aka the “National Commission to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol Complex Act,” passed the House with 252 votes in favor and 175 votes against the bill.

35 House Republicans Voted For The Bill
Not surprisingly, the bill had overwhelming Democrat support.
But it also had stronger than expected support from House Republicans.
In total, 35 House Republicans voted for it. This was despite the fact that House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy opposed the bill.

Not surprisingly, the ten House Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump got behind establishing a commission to investigate January 6 Capitol riot.
Though 35 House Republicans voted to establish a commission, obviously the majority of GOP members did not, and Republican Congressman Chip Roy even argued on the House floor that many committees already have the ability to investigate what happened on January 6.

Republican Congressman Lance Gooden, who did not vote for the bill, said in a statement after the vote that such a commission would distract from the Democrats’ many problems, and accused Pelosi of trying to accomplish precisely that.
“This partisan legislation was designed to distract the American people from the unprecedented crisis at our border, Joe Biden’s wasteful tax-and-spend policies, and the fact Democrats would rather defend radical Islamic terrorists in Palestine than support our allies in Israel,” Gooden said.
